Minnesota’s giving day

Give to the Max Day

96 rescues in this directory take donations through GiveMN, the platform the day runs on. They’re all below with their giving links — and, where they file them, their public IRS returns.

Thursday 19 November

Early giving opens November 1, and a gift made any time that month counts the same. Gifts of $5 or more through GiveMN enter the organization into prize drawings — which for a small rescue can be worth more than the gift itself.

Having a GiveMN page isn’t the same as being registered for the day — that’s a separate step each organization takes, and their GiveMN page will say. We list, we don’t rank: the order below is alphabetical, and nothing on this site is an endorsement. More on how to check an organization before you give.

Questions about Give to the Max Day

When is Give to the Max Day 2026?
Thursday, November 19, 2026 — the eighteenth year of Minnesota’s statewide giving day, run by GiveMN. Early giving opens November 1, and gifts made from that date still count toward the day’s totals.
Do I have to give on the day itself?
No. Early giving runs from November 1, so a gift made any time that month counts the same way. Gifts of $5 or more made through GiveMN.org enter the receiving organization into prize drawings — daily through November 18, then every fifteen minutes on the day.
Are all of these organizations registered for Give to the Max Day?
We can’t promise that. Every organization on this page has a GiveMN page, which is where Give to the Max Day gifts are made — but registering for the day itself is a separate step each organization takes on its own. If it matters to you, their GiveMN page will say.
How do I know a rescue is legitimate before I give?
Read what it files. Every row here links to the organization’s annual IRS return on ProPublica’s Nonprofit Explorer, where you can see revenue, expenses, and how much reaches the programs rather than overhead. It takes about two minutes, and it’s the most useful thing you can do before giving to an organization you don’t know.
Is it better to give through GiveMN or directly to the rescue?
During Give to the Max Day, through GiveMN — that’s what enters them into the prize drawings, which can be worth far more to a small rescue than the gift itself. The rest of the year, giving directly through the organization’s own website usually means slightly more of the money arrives.
